At OTORide, we know not all riders want to pay per ride. Many want flexibility, savings, and the simplicity of a pass. That’s why we built the Subscription feature—to let operators create passes tailored to every type of rider: daily commuters, tourists, students, or corporate teams.

What is the Subscription Feature?

The OTORide Subscription feature allows you to build recurring or one-time passes that unlock discounted or bundled ride access for a set period. Riders can subscribe directly from the app and enjoy benefits like free unlocks, reservation discounts, free minutes per ride, and more—all defined by you.

Why We Built It?

Subscription was one of the first features we introduced on the OTORide platform—and over time, it has become one of the most advanced. We've continuously evolved it to meet real market demands.

A major leap in customization came in May 2025, when we partnered with Scooty from Canada. Their CEO, Shoaib Ahmed, shared the need for a deeply flexible subscription system, as their business generates multiple revenue streams from pass-based models. Together, we enhanced the feature to support advanced customization, enabling Scooty to design passes that precisely match their operations and market segments.

As Shoaib put it:

All operators using OTORide now have access to these powerful capabilities, giving them the same freedom and tools to build what fits their audience.

Operators needed a way to lock in rider loyalty while generating upfront revenue. Subscription passes offer both. Whether it’s a daily access pass, a 3-day tourist bundle, a weekly pass for commuters, or a semester-long plan for students—subscriptions give operators the flexibility to design what works best for their market.

We also built it to help operators serve businesses and institutions looking to provide access to a fleet without handling payments per ride. From hotel chains to delivery platforms, subscription access is the model that fits predictable, repeatable use.

How It Works?

Operators can define every part of the subscription logic:

  • Choose value type: credit-based or time-based (e.g. 3 days, 1 week, etc.)
  • Assign to specific vehicle types and fleets
  • Customize pricing and pass titles
  • Include unlock, reservation, and per-minute fee discounts (in %)
  • Offer free minutes per ride
  • Set subscription start and expiry dates
  • Add optional features like disabling the minimum fee or setting descriptions

Subscriptions can be toggled Active or Inactive anytime and support full lifecycle management.
